Deficiencies seem to be higher in the middle east due to a high practice of avoiding sun exposure.  Levels are also lower in Africa due to the darker pigmentation of the native skin.  Between a Vitamin D3 supplement and sunlight you should shoot for 8,000 IU’s a day.
